Friendship, self-confidence, inclusivity and fun are all words that spring to mind when thinking about Rainbows. Rainbows is the first step into Girlguiding and aimed at creating fun opportunities and experiences for girls aimed 5 to 7 years old. At Rainbows girls are welcomed into the Girlguiding community and begin to earn badges in a variety of ways. In the meetings the girls take part in Unit Meeting Activities and Skill Builders, which can involve anything from making animals out of recycled materials to singing and dancing, all of which count towards badges. At home Rainbows can work towards interest badges of their choice, such as Animal Lover and Drawing.
Additionally Rainbows have had all sorts of visitors to their meetings – from a guide dog to a Zumba teacher, as well as trips to see Frozen 2 and craft/music events held for Derbyshire Guiding. Once a Rainbow reaches 7 her journey is not over as she will then move up to Brownies, with girls going to both Repton or Findern Brownies. Overall, Rainbows is wonderful opportunity to develop friendships, build self-confidence and most importantly have fun!
For more information on joining please visit the Girlguiding UK website at https://www.girlguiding.org.uk/ or contact Carol 703991.
Everyone at Rainbows looks forward to welcoming our next member.
